Brief
The customer wanted incoming exchange calls to ring on a UCD, if not answered transferred
to the operator and if again not answered transferred to the operator's mailbox.
This same solution (or a slightly modified version) could be applied
to may customer's systems to improve their call-handling efficiency.
Solution
The following programming changes accomplished this requirement:
1. Setup a UCD to nominate which extensions ring on an
incoming call:
Create an "all ring" UCD that nominates the group of
extensions required to ring on an incoming exchange call.
Set the "OVERFLOW 1 Timer" to the required value.
Nominate the operator's extension as the "Overflow 1
Destination".
2. Programme the exchange line ringing positions:
Set "C.O. Line Ringing Position" to ring the UCD.
3. Setup a system call-forward path for the operator:
(a) Use the Preset Call Forward Table for 201 and set PATH A;
for CO RING
on NO ANSWER
for DAY and NIGHT modes.
(b) Make a path called "V Mail" with the voice-mail UCD
number as POINT 1.
(c) Set Forward Path A for 201 to PATH #1.
(d) Set the Forward Start Timer for the duration you want 201 to
ring before the call transfers to voice-mail-box.
Operation
The UCD extensions ring until the overflow timer expires, at which time they stop ringing
and 201 starts to ring. When the forward start timer expires, extension 201 stops ringing,
the call is transferred to the operator's mailbox and the caller hears the voicemail
greeting.
