A Country School

Brief
The school was concerned about the high incidence calls (particularly STD and mobile calls) made after "normal" school hours and at weekends by people with access to the school buildings at those times (cleaners, maintenance tradesmen, community groups etc).

Solution
This problem was easily solved using extension COS, Toll Barring tables and Time-switching the system.

  • The system operating mode was changed to Time to overcome any problems in a manual night-switch being forgotten.
  • Extensions were given (with a couple of exceptions) COS 0 during Day-1 mode for unlimited access and given COS 6 (all extensions) during Night mode.
  • Toll barring was set in Night mode so that extension COS 6 was able to dial only the:

headmaster's mobile and home telephone numbers
deputy headmaster's mobile and home telephone numbers
local hospital
local fire service
local police station
000 emergency number.

All other numbers (including local calls) were barred.
