Attendant

A system attendant and an alternate attendant can be nominated. The default attendant's extension number is 201. These extensions differ from other extensions in that they;

  • answer calls directed to the operator
  • answer "recall-to-operator" calls
  • can have a night-switch feature key
  • can programme reminder calls for other extensions.

The alternate attendant position can be used to share the incoming call load and to give a second person access to system attendant functions such as the ability to perform system night-switching etc.

Extensions are able to to call the nominated system attendant simply by dialing "0". This code can be changed to "9" if desired. The attendant can also be called by directly dialing the attendant's extension number (default 201).

Attendant Programming (function + # + 0) is used to change basic system parameters such as the time & date, user names, system abbreviated numbers etc. It can be performed from any display keyset connected to the system and does not have to be performed from the nominated system attendant's keyset. If no system attendant is programmed, system programming changes via "attendant programming" cannot be attempted.

A Night-switch feature key can be programmed on the attendant's (or alternate attendant's) keyset. This can be used be used to switch the system between "day-1" and "night" operating modes to change system operating features such as Ringing Position, Class Of Service settings, DISA operation, System Call-forward paths etc.

Benefits Programming a system attendant is essential to provide an answerable destination for "forgotten" calls (transferred calls to an extension that doesn't answer, calls placed on hold and not retrieved etc). It also allows the end-user to perform minor system programming changes.

Provision of a night-switch key allows incoming exchange calls to be redirected to a different ringing group for "day-1" and "night" operating modes. This feature is useful to redirect incoming calls during absences by a receptionist or at a shift-change when different staff commence duty.
