| DISA Direct Inward System Access (DISA) is programmed on an trunk-by-trunk basis
to allow external callers to access the following system resources from a remote DTMF
telephone:
- user extensions
- voicemail extensions
- extension UCD groups
- outgoing exchange lines (individual lines, trunk routes and
LCR)
- system abbreviated numbers
External callers accessing a DISA line can dial extension
numbers and UCD groups without having to enter any security code. To access an exchange
line and place an outgoing call, the DISA caller must have an "allowed" COS and
enter a security code. Idle DISA lines are always available to internal users for placing
an outgoing exchange call. Individual exchange lines can be assigned DISA access in one of
four time-bands (Never, Day, Night or Always) and can have a talk-time limit imposed.
| Benefits |
DISA allows authorised external callers access to system
resources at defined times as if they were an internal user. The primary use is to allow
access to company exchange lines to place business-related calls to overseas business
partners or customers during out-of-office periods. The company (rather than the
individual) is billed for the international call. |
