Messages

Outgoing message (Function 96)
Preprogrammed messages can be sent from any extension to any other extension. They are "outgoing" in the sense that they are sent from one extension to another. They cannot be sent on on "outside" exchange-line call.

If a feature key has been programmed as a "message wait" key, it will light whenever a message has been received. The LCD on a display keyset will also provide a message-waiting indication. Display keyset users can view individual messages and choose to respond to the sender or to delete the message.

If an extension receives more than one message from the same sender, only the first message will be displayed. An extension can receive multiple messages from multiple extensions. The system has a capacity for 24 simultaneous messages.

Premises message (Function 90)
A premises message can be set at any display keyset connected to the system. The message then appears on the display of any calling display-keyset. In addition to the six pre-programmed messages, each user can create their own (seventh) personalised message.

Auto. message-notification (Function 72)
Invoking this feature automatically sends a 16-character message to a specified extension when the originating extension handles a call. The message may be sent for only outgoing calls, only for incoming calls or for both outgoing plus incoming calls. On an internal call, it is not sent until the called party answers.

Benefits Outgoing messages allow commonly-used messages to be sent to display-keyset users, eliminating the more common physically delivered paper-based messages left on peoples desks.

Premises messages are useful in a non open-plan work environment where staff are unable to see each other or in a workplace that is geographically large or is split over more than one floor. It allows callers to see (via the LCD display on their keyset) that the called extension user is (a) In a meeting, (b) at lunch, (c) has left for the day, (d) is at the warehouse etc. This eliminates costly time-consuming telephone-tag, unnecessary paging, etc.

Auto message notification is useful where a manager wants to know when a nominated keyset is being used to make or receive a call. As an example, if a keyset has been designated as a "hot-keyset" that must be used as an incoming-call answering point only, it may be useful to know if staff are using the keyset to make outbound calls.
