Mute

Using this feature (Function 76) disables the handset microphone or the speakerphone transmitter. It does not block the transmitter on a headset.

Pressing the mute key on an OHVA call mutes the handset transmitter only, allowing private dialogue with the OHVA caller.

Benefits Allows a user to have a conversation with someone physically at their workplace without the calling/called party on the telephone overhearing the conversation.

This feature is useful if the keyset is in a high-noise environment as the user can mute their transmitter cutting out "noisy" sidetone so they may better-hear the other party. The keyset is un-muted only when they want to talk.

Mute should also be used if a group-listen call is to be converted to a standard hands-free call before the handset is placed the cradle to prevent an acoustic feedback squeal.
