Names

System programming allows a name of up to 16 characters to be associated with each exchange line port or extension keyset port. End-users are able to change extension names via attendant programming. Exchange names can be changed only via RMP programming. This name is displayed on the LCD panel of display keysets.

If a door station is connected to a the system, naming the associated exchange port as "DOOR" allows users to visually determine that it's a door-station call and not an incoming exchange line call.

Benefits If there are sub-companies within the main company, naming exchange lines gives a visual prompt to staff so they can answer incoming calls with the correct company name.

By adding extension names, display keyset users can see who is calling them instead of just the extension number. The ICM directory then allows extensions to be searched by using the associated name.
