 User reference guides |
A hard-copy set of
four manuals giving step-by step instructions on the operation of all Hytel
system features. These are available for purchase via your technician. |
 Music-On-Hold |
Any audio-device such as a radio,
CD-player or dedicated MOH playback unit can be connected to your Hytel system to provide
callers who are on-hold with music or information. North Supply can supply a continuous-play CD unit and provide full
production services for a tailored on-hold message. Note that all these devices must be
connected via a Line Isolation Unit (LIU). It is your responsibility to comply with any
copyright restrictions on the use of the programme sources used to supply MOH or
background music. Only a single music-source is available on the 824-series systems. The
larger 96/120-port systems have 2 music-source input jacks, allowing different music
sources to be used for MOH and background music or provide two different MOH messages for
two different groups of exchange lines. |
 CID-8 |
This optional accessory board
de-codes calling-line identification information (ICLID) received on an incoming exchange
call and passes that information to your system . Each CID-8 unit caters for up to 8
exchange lines. The ICLID information is displayed on the LCD panel of ringing keysets,
with the information being passed around the system as the call is transferred. After a
time-delay, the ICLID information is replaced with the standard "call-progress"
information. It can be momentarily recalled at any time during the call by pressing soft
key F1 (situated directly below the LCD display). There is a small monthly charge levied
by your telephone carrier to provide you with the ICLID information. Contact your
technician and ask him about the SPECIAL DEAL on this
product. |
DSS
Unit
 |
Up to 2 Direct Station Select (DSS)
units can be associated with any digital keyset connected to the system. They are ideal
for the company receptionist or system attendant because they give visual indication of
extension and exchange line status and allow one-touch dialling to transfer calls.
Executives find them useful for providing one-touch selection of frequently called
abbreviated numbers. Up to 12 DSS units are supported on a 96/120-port system, with an
824-series system supporting up to 6 DSS units. The photo opposite shows a DSS unit being
used with a 20-key display keyset. |
 Door Station |
A door-station connects to
a spare exchange port on your system. When the door-unit call button is pressed a call is
sent to pre-determined keysets. Full two-way conversation and remote door-release (by
dialling a code) is provided. The door unit can be ordered in either Standard (as shown)
or Recessed type, the recessed type having a stainless-steel plate designed for mounting
within in a brick wall. |
  Exchange-call Alarms |
Loud-sounding alarms can be
activated when there is an incoming call on selected exchange lines. The
Type-A
alarm is
suitable for an office or home environment, whereas the louder
Universal
alarm (with an
associated
horn speaker) is more suited for industrial or warehouse situations. A standard
set of front-door-chimes can also be used to provide a distinctive "ring" if a
door-station is connected to your system. |
 External P.A. Amplifier |
As well as the inbuilt paging
feature through digital keysets connected to the system, an external public-address
amplifier and speakers can be connected to your Hytel system. The 824-series has provision
for one external amplifier; the 96/120-port system has provision for 2 independent
external amplifiers. Your technician can advise you on the amplifier specifications
required to match the Hytel P.A. Output socket parameters. |
 Battery Backup |
This unit provides emergency power
to the system, allowing full operation in the event of a 240V mains power failure. The
operating time depends on the number of calls handled and the number of extensions
connected to the system. As a guide, a backup system rated at 10AH will run a 16-line
56-extension system for about 2 hours. |
 Power Supply Filters |
These filters provide protection
for your Hytel system against spikes, surges and brownouts. We recommend power protection
units from Natural Power Solutions Pty Ltd.
For areas with a reasonably consistent 240V supply their low-cost Continuous Power Filter
(CPF) is suitable, with their PC30N unit a better choice for "difficult" sites
or areas with an unreliable mains power supply. For protection plus inbuilt battery
backup, their UPS model 325 or 520 are both suitable for use with a Hytel as an integrated
Uninterrupted Power Supply and surge protection combination. |
 Headset |
Hytel 20-key display keysets have
an inbuilt headset jack on the rear of the keyset allowing direct connection of a suitable
headset without the need for a headset amplifier. Easy one-touch
handset-to-headset-to-handset selection is an operational advantage. The East Coast supplied Mytel Duo
headset (convertible headband or earlobe style) works well with the Hytel 20-key keyset.
Compared to a 20-key keyset, both of the Hytel 9-key keysets need a headset with an
associated amplifier and involve the removal of the handset to initiate or answer a call. |
 Call Management Systems |
Call Management Systems extract
data from the Hytel system's SMDR output port. They can be as simple as connecting an
inexpensive serial printer to the SMDR port on the Hytel system (printing one line of
call-data at the completion of a call) through to complex computer based call accounting
and analysis packages. Some Call Accounting companies are: Unitel, Micas (07) 3397 2434, and Computer + Voice |
